Apple iPhone 6, released on September 19, 2014, features a 4.7-inch Retina display, Apple A8 chipset, 1GB RAM, and storage options of 16GB, 32GB, and 128GB. It comes with an 8MP main camera and a 1810mAh battery. As this model has been officially discontinued, it is only available through local importers as used kit phones. The non-PTA price is Rs. 12,000, while the PTA-approved price is Rs. 13,000.
Although the iPhone 6 was a popular device when released, it’s now outdated in 2025, and here’s why it’s not a great option:
Limited software support: The iPhone 6 no longer supports the latest iOS updates, limiting its functionality with newer apps.
Weak performance and battery life: The battery life degrades over time, and the performance with newer apps can be slow, making it less suitable for modern usage.
As an alternative, the iPhone 7 or iPhone SE (1st Gen) would be a better choice, offering better performance, longer battery life, and support for newer software updates. For Android, the Samsung Galaxy A40 or Google Pixel 3 would provide more value with improved specs and performance.
The Apple A8 chipset, 1GB RAM, and 8MP camera were great at the time of release but can struggle to keep up with today’s apps and multitasking needs.
